We Buy Books
One of the many things that make books so special is that they can be
read, re-read, and passed on from person to person. With a bit of knowledge
and kind handling they can last for 100s of years. When you have finished
reading your books don’t let them become “stray dogs”.
Contact us and make arrangements with us to make you an offer to buy them.
We will offer you cash or store credit. Here are a few things you need
to know about selling books to Stray Dog.
- We are always looking for books to buy. We need a steady flow of
books into our store to assure a constantly growing stock for you and
other readers to select from.
- We buy hardcover and paperback books – fiction and non-fiction.
We do not buy Reader’s Digest Condensed Books, romances, textbooks,
magazines, or in most cases Book Club Editions.
- We will evaluate each book and base our offer to you on demand, condition,
and market price. Rare and collectible books will receive special attention.
After evaluation we will offer you a cash price for the book(s). If
you are interested we will also offer store credit, which is usually
about 25% higher than cash.
- You can use store credit anytime you are in our shop. Credit we extend
to you for paperback books can only be used for paperback purchases.
All other credit can be used for anything in the shop. We will keep
track of your unused credit in our database.
- If you have books for sale please contact us for an appointment to
evaluate them. Depending on the quantity of books you have we will arrange
for you to either bring them to the store or for us to visit your collection.
Please do not just bring books to the store or plan to drop them off
without an appointment, as we have limited storage space at the store.
- We may make an offer to you for only books we are interested in or
we may make you a bulk offer for all your books. The bulk offer will
usually result in lower prices per book, but may give you a way to sell
all of your “Strays”.
- Contact us any time you have books available and we will be glad
to talk to you in detail about our buying and evaluating policies, and
to make arrangements for us to visit your books.
